Can I fry my brined turkey?

Yes, just make sure all of the liquid is out of the cavity of the turkey and the turkey has been completely patted dry. Use peanut, canola, or vegetable oil to fry a turkey. Here’s a quick how-to:

  1. Fill fryer no more than 2/3 full with oil. Using a candy/oil thermometer, heat oil to 325 degrees. Pat turkey dry with paper towels. Lower turkey into fry pot with a basket or turkey hanger.
  2. Fry turkey for about 3 minutes/pound of meat. Make sure a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the breast reads 165 degrees and the thigh reads 180 degrees.
